December 13th we are going to start our own version of the 12 Days of Christmas. This is not really the real 12 days of Christmas which was a religious catechism sang mostly by Catholics during a time of persecution. The real 12 days actually start on December 25th and go until January 6th. The symbolism in the song are all about the birth of Jesus.
Our 12 days of Christmas are just for fun and will run as a kind of preparation for getting ready for Christmas building anticipation for the family as they participate in all of the activities of the season. We will publish each day one day ahead so if you want to get the items together to participate you can do so. That will give you the time you need should you be missing any supplies necessary to each day’s activities. The final day for us will be Christmas Eve.
Every year I have tried to take December off to do things with the kids or at least as much of December as possible. It always varies depending upon the year but we really do try to get in more family time than usual and make some great memories while we do it.
We had a lot of fun writing this and we are going to share some of our favorite holiday crafts, gifts, recipes and ideas. Also there will be a lot of wit and reminiscing about the ‘good ole days’ or at least the days when I was growing up (right after Moses and I got off the ark!) Remember back before the time when Google was not a word at all and Yahoo was a bad kid that was acting out?

Hope you like them all.
