A room made for a princess

by Danielle

This year my daughter got a pretty cool present from her Daddy for Christmas.  Her very own princess room.  There are a lot of boys on our street and a lot my son’s age.  So I imagine the future being a house full of boys and my daughter needing a hide-out!  So for Christmas she got her hide-out.  We cleaned out our junk from under the stairs and dry-walled the walls and painted them.  Purple was the colour of choice (she made it looking at the choices without knowing what was going to be painted).  We bought carpet tiles for the floor – they are much like the foam tiles used in kids playrooms only they have a carpet on the top which makes for a warmer floor.  Add a couple hooks and a bean bag chair and there’s the perfect room for a princess.

We knew the prince would have his nose out of joint so we added a window cut-out for him to peek in and say hi.  The door is a pocket door and we added bumpers on the side so that fingers can’t get slammed in it.

This room is also a great room if you are finding that the princess clothes and barbie and doll accessories are taking over your house – just chuck them all in there at the end of the day!  If the room were for a boy, all the cars and tools can be thrown in!

Danielle is mom to a 4 year old daughter and (almost) 2 year old son and always looking for fun things to do with the kids.  She blogs at Four Days Home.
