Looking for a great nature experience for the kids? Look no further than Inglewood bird sanctuary. Within city limits and a nice little stroll for the kiddies. The paths are well maintained and even good for strollers and joggers. There are bridges, boardwalks, forest paths and lots of wildlife!
The chickadees are the most notable bird. It was great fun when they started flying around our heads! Deer love this area and ducks also float along the water. We managed to be standing by the water when a blue heron flew by (the grainy photo caught in flight) which was amazing for the kids to see. You’ll notice lots of nature enthusiasts and photographers out with the long lenses and they can often answer many questions about the types of birds there. The city also runs an interpretive centre at the entrance by the parking lot. It has some birds for kids to look at and a nice exhibit to teach the kids about migration and nests etc. Washrooms are also located in this building.
Location: 2425 9 Ave S.E.
Hours of operation of interpretive centre: Daily, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., closed holidays (the park is still accessible when the centre is closed).
Danielle is mom to a 3.5 year old daughter and 1.5 year old son and always looking for fun things to do with the kids.
